After a careful analysis of the recent events and declarations involving the Edgar Martins and the New York Times, which unmasked the true methods of the photographer, P4Photography decided to remove Martins’s photographs from the website. Edgar Martins is accused of altering by digital means a set of photos commissioned by the New York Times. The photographer assumed the manipulation, of that and previous series, after claiming, for several years, that none of his photos were digitally manipulated, or even significantly altered in the darkroom. In fact, the text of his Topologies begins with this sentence: " With artful composition and controlled framing — but no digital manipulation ".
It is not acceptable — at least in our standards — that the photographer claims for years that his photos are free of digital manipulation, and then, when there are indisputable evidences of that manipulation, EM changes his speech, turning this whole affair into a debate on the limits of photography and reality.
